This legendary beer was the daily drink of the Picts, early inhabitants of the British Isles. The secret of making this mind altering brew lay in the knowledge of which variety of heather had hallucinogenic properties. Small commercial English Brewers have recently tried to replicate this brew. (The Encyclopedia of Beer. Christine P. Rhodes, editor)
