AB contends that nothing in the law prevents company reps from buying a bar patron an "incidental drink". The California Dept of Alcoholic Beverage Control filed an accusation against the brewer for violation of section 25600 (free goods) and Rule 52 (samples). The court concluded that Rule 52 only allows "samples" to be given to retail licensees. * Anheuser Busch and Adolph Coors will continue to raise prices even after recording huge profits, due mainly to an increase in the population of young males in their twenties. Young males are the beer industry's biggest customers and rising wages and lower unemployment has created a lot of disposable income. * A 15-liter bottle of Belgian beer is selling for 635 British pounds ($1000.00) at one London bar. The 26 pint bottle of Vielle Bon Secours beer is made by Bierodrome, owned by Belgo Group, Plc. It takes two waiters to pour pints from the bottle. Bierodrome springs for a free cab ride home for the buyer and the empty "souvenir" bottle.
