The winner will win a $500.00 gift certificate!! http://www.tacomac.com/news.html Cooking With Beer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pretzel Crusted Pork Loin 1 cup North American Lager 1 egg unsalted pretzel nuggets (enough to make 2 cups crumbs) 2 tbs finely minced scallions 1 tsp cracked black pepper 2 lbs pork tenderloin (several pieces) * blend the lager and egg until smooth and place in a long, narrow loaf pan. Set aside. * Crush unsalted pretzel nuggets with a rolling pin or in a food processor to make a coarse flour. Set aside. * Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Blend the scallions and black pepper with the pretzel crumbs in a long, shallow dish. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Roll each tenderloin in the egg-lager mixture, then in the pretzel crumb blend, and place on the lined baking sheet. Repeat until all the meat is covered. * Bake for 30-40 mins, or until done. Serve sliced thin with spicy mustard and buttered noodles. Grupo Modelo, makers of Corona, will launch its online service shipping cases of beer to customers' homes. The service will initially be limited to Mexico City, but should expand as demand dictates. * Grupo Modelo have raised their US export prices by 4%, according to an August Reuters report. This marks the first time in ten years the Mexican company has raised its export prices. * Czech state-owned brewery Budejovicky Budvar n.p., maker of Budweiser Budvar beer, reported sales growth of 2.1% for the first half of 1999. The Czech Budweiser is frequently in trouble with Anheuser-Busch over its use of the brand name. * An agreement between South African Breweries Plc, and Prazske Pivovary AS, a Czech subsidiary of UK's Bass Plc, has been signed allowing South African to brew Pivovary's Staropramen beer in Russia. Transmark Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of SAB, will brew the beer in its Kaluga facility about 180 km south of Moscow. * An Australian pub owner has been fined thousands as a result of a drinking competition in his pub that caused the death of the winner. A 33-yr old computer technician died after drinking 34 glasses of beer, four bourbons, and 17 tequilas in 100 minutes. The owner was fined US$ 13,100 because he failed to exercise his license in the public interest when he and his staff did not stop the man from drinking. * Anheuser Busch, long with CA One Services airport concessions management, has opened a Budweiser Brew Pub in the Newark International Airport. The pub boasts copper-clad brewing tanks and copper and wood bars in its 1100 sq ft facility. The pub will sell variety of A-B products in bottles and on tap. A-B plans other such "brewhouses" in airports across the country including St Louis, Jacksonville and Baltimore. And "taprooms" in airports in Tampa and Chicago.
