Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. Let batter sit until it cools to room temperature. Stir gently before pouring onto griddle. Yields 2 - 3 servings. (Beer Lovers Companion. "Alcohol is an illicit drug for Americans under the legal drinking age of 21" said Karolyn Nunnallee, national president of MADD. The vote to discourage underage drinking is expected to come to a vote as early as this week. * Lion Nathan has stirred up more notice than intended with its recent ad for its Toohey's brand. The ad shows a young man in a confessional confessing to his "indiscretions" with "beautiful young women". The priest asks him who the women are by name. The Australian Catholic clergy are threatening to start a boycott of the brand id the ads are not removed stating that the ads suggest that priests inadvertantly violate the confidentiality of the confessional. * Daiei Inc, Japan's largest supermarket chain, will begin selling low malt brew. The brew is taxed less and is cheaper than standard beer. Consomers are split on the idea. Some like the name brand appeal even in a low malt product, but others refer to low malt brews as "fake beer". * Anheuser Busch is discussing the possibility of reopening its Houston bottle plant which has been closed for two years. Anheuser Busch abandoned its experiment with plastic beer bottles in April and the local bottle union said that 300 jobs were lost when the plant closed. Speculation is that the property will sell for around $20 million. * Veterans Stadium concessions operators have been cited for selling alcoholic beverages to minors. An investigaton was launced after a group of high school students were involved in a brawl which was broadcast on national televisions. The students had been drinking at the game and said that they had purchased alcohol at several concessions at the stadium. * Reg Drury, director at Fuller, Smith, and Turner brewery will retire after 42 years . The widely respected and legendary brewing director transformed the Chiswick, England brewery from a labor intensive Victorian craft brewery to a modern production plant that still produces fine traditional ales. * Rogue Ales Public House has expaned to include the Rogue Museum and Casino with black jack and video poker. The Rogue Casino serves a tribute to ten years of brewing independence and houses Rogue's extensive museum of company artifacts.
