Cooking With Beer
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Strawberries Framboise

1 package fresh strawberries
1 heaping tbs sugar
1 bottle Lindemans Framboise Lambic
1 quart vanilla ice cream

About one half hour before serving, clean and slice strawberries.  In a
bowl, combine strawberries, sugar, and Lambic.  Stir thoroughly until
completely mixed.  Cover bowl and set in fridge.  When ready to serve,
place ice cream in separate bowls and top with the strawberry mixture.  Top
with whipped cream or chocolate shavings, if desired.

* Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon celebrated its 10th Anniversary May
14-16th.  Drink a Rogue and celebrate a decade of Rogue Ales!  Cheers,

* Rogue has opened a B & B (Bed & Beer) above Rogue Ales Public house on
Newport's historic Bayfront.  This new B&B concept features two furnished
and fully equipped apartments with a 6 pck of Rogue and 2 complimentary
pint glasses in each room.  The Public house in only steps away featuring

* A study in New England Journal of Medicine indicates that drinking
(water, coffee, soda, milk, juice… beer) helps to lower the risk of bladder
cancer.  The study found that "American men who drank at least 11 8-ounce
glasses a day of all liquids cut their risk of two common types of bladder
cancer in half, compared with men who drank 5 glasses or less".

* Deschutes Brewing Co, Bend, Oregon has the number one selling Porter in
the United States.

* Draught Guinness in Cans... the newest nitrogen injection can from
Guinness contains a ball which, when the can is opened, releases the
perfect amount of 75% nitrogen and 25% carbon dioxide.  The ball can be
heard rattling in the can while the beer is being poured.

* Miller Brewing Co's Milwaukee plant interrupted production on May 5th to
bottle 1,000 cases of drinking water for tornado victims in Oklahoma.  The
glass ws donated by Owens-Brockway and the Jimmy Golden Trucking line
delivered the cases of water to the victims.

Groaning Beer... a potent brew made in anticipation and preparation for the
birth of a child.  In Europe and the American colonies, groaning beer and
groaning cake were served to midwives and mothers in labor.  The sustaining
benefits of ale were considered essential to the health and survival of
both infant and mother, who was encouraged to drink copiously during
childbirth.
